William joined Comcast Ventures in 2012 to lead the Catalyst Fund which focused on investing in startups with diverse founding teams. He is responsible for identifying, executing and managing new investments while supporting existing portfolio companies for the Fund. He has an east coast focus with a particular interest in startups leveraging data and technology to create new operating models for inefficient markets.
Prior to joining Comcast Ventrue's Catalyst Fund, William was the founder of a strategy and business development company that focused on guiding traditional media companies into the digital media arena. Before launching his own venture, he served as Director of Strategy and Business Development at AOL, where he was responsible for restructuring the online advertising sales unit and building a unified group serving AOL’s owned and operated properties and its advertising networks. While at AOL, he was instrumental in integrating the acquisitions of several early stage tech companies including TACODA, Quigo and Third Screen Media.
William holds an M.B.A. from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Computer Science from North Carolina State University, where he was an IBM research fellow.
